Roanoke is designed specifically for Submit Point workflows. The app converts Submit Point XML datasets into Switch private data, allowing submitted metadata to be used throughout a workflow without custom scripting, XPath expressions, or manual XML parsing.
When a job arrives, Roanoke reads the attached Submit Point dataset, extracts submitted field values, and creates Switch private data that can immediately be used by downstream workflow elements. Order numbers, customer information, due dates, product selections, shipping details, and other submitted values become available for routing, job naming, automation, reporting, and integration.
Roanoke preserves nested field structures by generating hierarchical private data keys, ensuring related information remains organized and easy to reference. Generated keys can be remapped to match existing workflow naming conventions, making it simple to standardize metadata across multiple workflows and production environments.
In addition to extracting submitted values, Roanoke can create additional private data using static values, Switch variables, and previously generated private data. This makes it easy to generate production filenames, workflow statuses, routing flags, customer folder names, and other workflow-specific metadata without additional scripting.
Roanoke can also write the final private data to the job file as XMP keywords, so submitted metadata travels with the PDF beyond the Switch flow.
A detailed processing log provides complete visibility into metadata extraction, private data generation, key remapping, and error handling, simplifying workflow development, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
A licensed Switch Metadata Module is required. Without it, Roanoke does not appear in the Flow elements pane, and any imported flow using it shows the element as unavailable.
